Welcome to our web site!
So you've written your book and main stream publishers and agents don't want to know.
Maybe it's stuck in the "slush" pile.
Considering self-publishing?
Here's a few things you should know.
1. It is not self-publishing, if someone does it for you. To self-publish, you must set up your own publishing company,
buy minimum ten ISBN numbers, find a good printer and when you receive the finished book, you get to market it yourself.
2. There are a lot of people ready to offer you self-publishing,(which it isn't): make large claims for what they will
do for you(which they don't): charge large sums of money (for doing very little or nothing.)
3. The standard of book produced by some of these people is very poor. You pay a lot of money upfront, but the promised
sales don't materialise.(Of course it's your fault because the writing is so poor!)
Sound familiar?
Why is Petan Publishing any different?
Firstly, it's run by a writer like yourself. He suffered problems with his first book losing quite a bit of money. As
a result, he set up Petan Publishing to do it himself.
Now you can get the benefit of self-publishing without setting up a company.
Petan can offer cover design, editorial help, proof reading and quality printing including ISBN numbers and listing on
Nielson Bookdata.
But why can you be trusted to do the things you say you will. We are happy to put you in touch with writers who have
used our services.
Petan take a flat fee for setting up your book for printing, providing the ISBN number and handling the listing with Nielson
Bookdata. (providing the manuscript is ready for printing).
We strongly recommend proof reading by an experienced proofreader. Writers become word blind and don't pick up the mistakes.
They know what they intended to put and that's what they read.
These services are offered at cost, Petan adds nothing on to the proof reading or editorial help, which is carried out
by professionals.
We strongly recommend that if you are considering self-publishing, you download the excellent free advise from Jonathon
Clifford's website. He is the acknowledged expert on vanity publishers(he coined the phrase).
To be as competitive in the marketplace as you are able, you must buy the right quantity. Self-published books sell on
average between 300-400 books. The minimum to buy is 250 books. Below this quantity the price rises steeply.
Petan has produced three books this year with a further three due to be published later this year.
